Piekarok - Kapliczka

ul. Potokowa 3

Piec piekarniczy, tzw. piekarok wybudowany w 1906 roku. Swoją funkcję spełniał do lat 50. XX wieku. Bujoczka 24.

Piekarok - Bread Baking Furnace

Der Brotbackofen Piekarok

The baker’s oven (so-called piekarok) built in 1906. It performed its original function until the 1950s. The ovens were an inseparable element of the workers’ settlements in Ruda. Every settlement was equipped with at least one such building. With time they deteriorated or were used for aims different from baking. In the years 2002-2003 the entrance to the piekarok was renovated and turned into a chapel, and the ruins of the oven’s chamber were dismantled. Several of the ovens in Ruda were designed by Hans von Poellnitz, the chief architect of the Ballestrem family. The only genuine oven which is still in use, renovated by the city of Ruda Śląska in the years 2013-2014, can be found in ul. Bujoczka 24.
