Franciszek Pieler I urodził się 11 maja 1835 roku w Arnsbergu w Westfalii. Ukończył studia w Aach\en i Bonn. Przez ponad trzydzieści lat działał w branży górniczej, piastując w niej kierownicze stanowiska. W 1885 roku, po rezygnacji ze służby państwowej, przeniósł się z rodziną do Rudy, by tutaj przez dwadzieścia pięć lat współpracować z hrabią Franciszkiem Ksawerym Ballestremem w należącej do hrabiego kopalni, jako jej dyrektor generalny. Był również wynalazcą, docenianym m.in. za tzw. „lampę Pielera” oznaczającą ciśnienie gazów kopalnianych oraz metodę wydobywania węgla z podsadzką piaskową. W 1897 roku został odznaczony przez cesarza Wilhelma II Hohenzollerna królewskim złotym orderem i mianowany radcą górniczym. Przez wszystkie lata pobytu w Rudzie Franciszek Pieler ofiarowywał swoją wiedzę i wysiłek dla jej rozwoju. Zmarł 25 października 1910 roku w Rudzie, został pochowany na miejscowym cmentarzu, gdzie spoczywa wraz z żoną Emilią i synem Adolfem. |

Franciszek Pieler I was born on 11 May 1835 in Arnsberg, Westphalia. He studied in Aachen and Bonn. For over thirty years he worked on directorship positions in the mining industry. In 1885, having resigned from public service, he moved with his family to Ruda, where for twenty-five years he worked as the managing director of a mine which belonged to Count Franciszek Ksawery Ballestrem. He was also an inventor, recognised for the invention of, among others, ”Pieler’s lamp,” used to determine the pressure of mining gases, and the coal extraction method using sand backfill. In 1897, he was awarded the Order of the Crown by Emperor Wilhelm II, and nominated a mining advisor. Throughout his stay in Ruda, Franciszek Pieler offered his knowledge and effort for the city’s development. He died in Ruda on 25 October 1910. He is buried at the local cemetery, next to his wife Emilia and son Adolf. |

Franz Pieler I ist am 11. Mai 1835
in Arnsberg in Westfalen geboren. Er schloss Studien in Aachen und Bonn
ab. Über 30 Jahre bekleidete er ein führendes Amt in der
Bergbauindustrie. Im Jahre 1885, nach seinem Rücktritt aus dem
öffentlichen Dienst, zog er mit seiner Familie nach Ruda um und
arbeitete 25 Jahre zusammen beim Grafen Franz Xaver von Ballestrem als
Generaldirektor des Bergwerks des Grafen. Er war auch Erfinder,
geschätzt unter anderem für „Pielers Lampe“, die den Druck von
Grubengasen misst, sowie auch für eine Kohlebergbau-Methode mit
Sandbergversatz. Im Jahr 1897 wurde er vom Kaiser Wilhelm II. von
Hohenzollern mit dem Königsgoldorden ausgezeichnet und zum
Bergbauberater ernannt. Über alle Jahre seines Aufenhaltes in Ruda
