Trzy Lipy Powstańcze – taką nazwę nadało drzewom Rudzkie Towarzystwo Przyjaciół Drzew, są wyjątkowymi pomnikami: przyrody i historii, zarazem. Zostały zasadzone na pamiątkę trzech powstań śląskich, podczas wielkiej patriotycznej manifestacji. Manifestacja odbyła się w drugą rocznicę Plebiscytu Śląskiego, w niedzielę, 18 marca 1923 roku, a poprzedziła ją msza święta. O godzinie 1 w południe na rudzkim rynku (obecnie plac Żwirki i Wigury) zebrało się społeczeństwo Rudy. Przybyły wszystkie rudzkie towarzystwa, związki i organizacje, z pocztami sztandarowymi. Stąd zgromadzeni przemaszerowali na dziedziniec kościoła farnego (kościół pw. Świętego Józefa), przy ówczesnej ulicy Bytomskiej (obecnie Piastowskiej), gdzie nieopodal wejścia do budynku probostwa posadzono pierwszą lipę. 85 lat później, z inicjatywy księdza proboszcza Adama Brzyszkowskiego, kilkanaście metrów dalej posadzono pamiątkowy Dąb Papieski. Spod kościoła farnego pochód udał się na Plac Wolności (obecnie plac Fryderyka Chopina). Tam, u wlotu obecnej ulicy Macieja, obok szkoły powszechnej, wkopano drugą lipkę. Dziś jest ona najokazalszą, spośród trzech sióstr. Następnie zebrani przemieścili się do Kościoła O.O. Jezuitów, obecnego kościoła pw. Matki Boskiej Różańcowej, przy ulicy Kościelnej. Tutaj zasadzano trzecią lipę. Potem pochód powędrował na pobliski cmentarz parafialny przy obecnej ulicy Porębskiej. Nad mogiłami poległych powstańców zmówiono modły i złożono im hołd. W tym samym porządku pochód powrócił na rudzki rynek, skąd „rozbiegł się do domów". Drzewa miały ogromne szczęście, że przetrwały lata okupacji. Hitlerowcy bowiem nie tylko burzyli pomniki powstańcze w Rudzie, Kochłowicach, Halembie, Wirku, Bykowinie, Orzegowie, Nowym Bytomiu, ale także mścili się na zasadzonych przy nich drzewach. Wycięli m. in. lipę przy pomniku Janasa i dąb przy pomniku Hallera na porębskim cmentarzu.

Die drei Aufstandslinden

Trzy Lipy Powstańcze (The Three Insurrectionist Lindens), so named by Rudzkie Towarzystwo Przyjaciół Drzew (The Society of Tree Lovers in Ruda Śląska), are exceptional monuments: both of nature and of history. They were planted during a great patriotic manifestation in order to commemorate the three Silesian uprisings. The manifestation took place on the second anniversary of the Upper Silesian plebiscite, on Sunday, 18 March 1923, and was preceded by a Mass. At 1 p.m. the society of Ruda gathered in the main square (nowadays pl. Żwirki i Wigury). All of Ruda’s societies, associations and organisations, with their colour parties, were represented. The assembled marched from the square to the courtyard of the parish church (St Joseph), in ul. Bytomska (currently ul. Piastowska), where the first of the trees was planted near the entrance to the presbytery. 85 years later, on parish priest’s  Fr. Adam Brzyszkowski’s initiative, a Papal Oak was planted several metres away. From the church the procession continued until Plac Wolności (currently pl. Fryderyka Chopina). There, at the junction with today's ul. Macieja, next to the elementary school, the second of the trees was planted. Today it is the largest of the three sisters. Next, the assembled moved to the Jesuit church, currently Our Lady of the Rosary, in ul. Kościelna. Here, the third linden was planted. Next, the procession went to the nearby parish cemetery in today’s ul. Porębska. A prayer was said over the graves of the fallen insurgents and a homage was paid to them. The procession returned to the main square the same way and from there dispersed to their homes. The trees were exceptionally lucky to have survived the years of the occupation. The Nazis did not limit their actions to the devastation of insurrectionist monuments in Ruda, Kochłowice, Halemba, Wirek, Bykowina, Orzegów, Nowy Bytom, but also took vengeance on the trees which were planted near them. They cut out, among others, the linden next to Janas’ monument and the oak next to Haller’s monument in the cemetery of Poręba.

Drei Aufstandslinden - dieser Name wurde den Bäumen von Rudas Gesellschaft der Baumfreunde (Rudzkie Towarzystwo Przyjaciół Drzew) gegeben. Die Bäume sind außergewöhnliche Denkmäler: gleichzeitig von Natur und Geschichte. Während der großen patriotischen Demonstration wurden sie in Erinnerung an die drei schlesischen Aufstände gepflanzt. Die Demonstation fand am zweiten Jahrestag des schlesischen Plebiszits am Sonntag, den 18. März 1923, statt und begann mit der Feier einer Heiligen Messe. Um 13.00 Uhr versammelte sich die Gesellschafts von Ruda am Rudaer Markt (heute Plac Żwirki i Wigury). Alle Gesellschaften, Verbände und Organisationen mit ihren Fahnenträgern. Von dort aus marschierten die Vesammelten in den Hof der Pfarrkirche (St. Josephskirche) an der damaligen Bytomska-Straße (heute Piastowska-Straße), wo man dann in der Nähe des Pfarrhauses die erste Linde pflanzte. 85 Jahre später wird auf Initiative des Pfarrers Adam Brzyszkowski eine Gedenkeiche zum Errinerung an Papst Johannes Paul II. ein paar Meter weiter gepflanzt. Von der Pfarrkirche ging der Zug zum Plac Wolności (heute Plac Fryderyka Chopina). Dort, am Anfang der heutigen Macieja-Straße, neben der Grundschule, wurde die zweite Linde gepflanzt, die heute der beeindruckendste der drei Schwesterbäume ist. Dann kam die Demonstration an die Jesuitenkirche, die heutige „Jungfrau Maria vom Rosenkranz“-Kirche an der Kościelna-Straße. Hier fand die Pflanzung der dritten Linde statt. Dann ging der Zug in den nahe gelegenen Pfarrfriedhof an der gegenwartigen Porębski-Straße. An den Gräbern der gefallenen Aufständischen wurde gebetet und Ehrerbietung erwiesen. Auf dem gleichen Weg kam der Zog zum Rudaer Markt zurück, wo man „auseinander und nach Hause lief“. Die Bäume hatten viel Glück, die Jahre der Besatzung zu überleben. Die Nazis zerstörten nämlich nicht nur die Denkmäler der Aufständischen
in Ruda, Kochłowice, Halemba, Wirek, Bykowina, Orzegowo und Nowy Bytom, sondern übten auch Rache an den Bäumen, die daneben gepflanzt waren. Sie fällten unter anderm die Gedenklinde am Denkmal von Janas und die Gedenkeiche am Denkmal von Haller auf dem Friedhof von Porębski.
