These two-floor buildings with hip roofs, commonly referred to as fugitives' houses, are located at 109 - 143 Kokota Street (odd numbers), at 9 Równoległa Street and at 2 - 6 PCK Street. Erected after the 1921 plebiscite, the buildings were meant for the Silesian insurgents and Polish plebiscite activists emigrating from the German part of Upper Silesia. There are numerous attics under the Polish style "broken" roofs. All the elevations feature plaster finishes, the frontal elevations being additionally decorated with bas-reliefs showing a traveler. Note the shallow pilasters between windows. |
